Roofs that respect the building beneath them.

York's roofs are part of the city's character: red clay pantiles, Welsh slate on long Victorian terraces, stone slate on older buildings and flat roofs on countless extensions. We work on all of them.

Run by Joshua Goodall, York Heritage Roofing gives straight advice, puts prices in writing and repairs what can be repaired before replacing anything. About the practice

What we work on

Repair what can be repaired. Replace only what must be.

Straight answers

The questions we're asked most. Anything else, just ask.

Do you give free quotes?

Yes. Quotes are free and there's no obligation. We'll look at the roof, explain what we find and put our price in writing.

What types of roof do you work on?

Pitched roofs in clay and concrete tiles, natural slate and Yorkshire stone slate, and flat roofs in EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and felt. We also carry out general roof repairs, leadwork, ridges and valleys.

Do you work on listed buildings and in conservation areas?

Yes. We take a repair-first, like-for-like approach on older buildings. If your property is listed or in a conservation area, check with the council whether consent is needed before work starts – we can provide the details of the proposed work to help with that.

Which areas do you cover?

We're based in York and work across the city and nearby areas including Acomb, Haxby, Huntington, Fulford, Heworth, Bishopthorpe and further afield. See our areas page, or just ask if you're unsure.

Begin with a conversation.

Whether it's a slipped slate, a leaking flat roof or a full re-roof, tell us about it. We'll look at the roof properly, explain what we find in plain English and put the price in writing – free and without obligation.
